A Little bit about MERi MiLA
I’m Merri, creator of MERi MiLA and all-round lover of art as a lifestyle.

Our Journey
About us
I was lucky enough to grow up on Minjerribah, Straddie. My Dad was a local artist called Dixie Lambert and since before I could walk, my parents ran a pottery. Art has gloriously saturated my life (thanks Dad) as Dad did it all including pottery, sculpture, bronzes, wood, oils and watercolours. If there was a medium, he wanted to spend time working in it and he also spent a fair time teaching it too. All while my magnificent Mum worked by his side or as a school teacher, supporting us.
Through school and Uni, I made jewellery which I had the nerve to sell to mainly to my Mum and her friends (sorry Mum), up-cycled op shop finds (think pin shirts with zippers re-worked into mini boob-tube dresses with 70s scarf belts), drew and painted with Dad and fell in love with a bunch of writers and reading.
After travelling, working corporate jobs, creating a family and moving back to Straddie, I studied surface design, was re-introduced to clay, sewed, did design work and re-kindled my joy in jewellery making. I wanted my life to combine fashion, art and functionality and after trying stay in one lane for what felt like a lifetime, I decided to hit the highway instead. Erratic Grand Theft Auto 2 driver at the wheel. MERi MiLA was born.
It’s slow, it’s curated carefully, it’s made by me on this tiny island, it’s got bite and a little bit of crazy that makes you smile and shake your head at the same time. When you buy a piece of MERi MiLA, know I have been involved in every step of the creation. It holds the true chaotic balance of who I am. There has probably been 20 sketches, multiple mock-ups, failed attempts, margaritas and solo car drives with loud music to get that product to you. I sincerely hope you love the part of me I have carved out to give the world. But mostly, I hope it brings art into your life in as many ways as possible.
Lots of love
Merri xo
